People’s Site Redesign, What They Got Right


People’s site is a absolute monster with 850 million page views and with so many eyeballs on the site, it’s interesting to see what the brains at Time Inc. thought needed updating.

On top of the list of changes- a redesign with emphasis on social and interactive aspects and  the key word seems to be emoticons. A newly created “Reader React” page features them, and ranks stories based on ‘heart,’ WOW, LOL, frown, or anger. The overall effect has readers effectively curating People’s content, which is interesting. Also, user generated content now has a place to call home with a section called “Your Turn on People,” providing users a place to put their own personal pics.

My humble opinion–smart choices.
