Vevo Starts A Music Network Like MTV, But It’s Not MTV

First, let me address my photoshop artistry above. It’s great isn’t it? Ya, not so much. Don’t worry, my skill level is better than this, but I just don’t feel like fixing it today, call it Spring Fever, or to quote Sweet Brown, “aint nobody got time for that.” Speaking of Sweet Brown, I could use a cold pop right now. Moving on from my trivial needs….

So Vevo has decided to start a 24-Hour ad supported music television network which will start online and move to tv later in the year. MTV brass may want to have a pow wow about this. Via Bloomberg:

The goal is to increase advertising sales and create a potential new source of revenue from pay-TV subscriber fees. Vevo TV will schedule blocks of high-definition music videos, original programs and concerts, and eventually hire on-air hosts, Caraeff said. The company, controlled by Vivendi SA (VIV)’s Universal Music and Sony Corp. (6758), is talking with pay-TV services to carry the channel before year-end, he said.
